MONDAYS!

mondays are the crappiest days of the week. you know they're like the start of the school week. this week we have a four day week because this weekend is a FOUR DAY WEEKEND! hells to the yeah =]. today was an exception. this monday was fun. in bio today we all learned about our packet which was fine...no big whoop there! but then in geometry ... actually, lemme get to a better part of the day. SPANISH WAS HILARIOUS! i love my espanol class so much. if you're in it you know who you are. do we or do we not have the best class EVER? english was pretty fun too. what was up with the shadowers? and btw, IT WAS SOUND! and western civ of course- didn't know taht he WASN'T on the football team. but thanks for making it clear that a fuckin 7th grader could beat him up.

Must-See Movies!

10 things I hate about you- I'm sure my picture says it all. Heath Ledger is AWESOME and adorable and the cynical look at Taming of the Shrew makes this romantic comedy awesome. Plus it's jokes are not just stupid phrases put in to keep you loving the movie, they're actualy surprisingly smart. And the soundtrack: don't get me started. Letters to Cleo: LOVE YOU!
Beauty & the Beast- the story is adorably cute and yet the actions of the people are surprisingly real. Although The Lion King is probably the adult Disney favorite, I have to say Belle is my life. If I could be any DIsney Princess it'd be her. She's worth every penny that it costs to buy the movie. Belle gives us a twisted but clever version of this fairytale!
Drive Me Crazy- a nineties film I'm absolutely in love with. Starring Melissa Joan Hart (ah, Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and Adrian Grenier (better known for his Entourage part) their hate you/ love you romance is adorable and makes it worth seeing, plus the lame attempt at bringing in the underdog back.
Ever After- a classic twist on the Cinderella Story set in 1700's France (I'm going to go with that...) starring Drew Barrymore and Dougray Scott. Who doesn't love this movie? It's sweet but still dramatic with references toward Thomas More's Utopia. What's not to love?
It's A Wonderful Life- my parents force me to watch this every year at Christmastime but I'm not gonna lie: i love it. The wholesome and yet freakishly sci-fi content makes this movie less good-ole-family romp and more Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde-like. With its ethereal qualities and overall cryworthy message, it's definitely a family friendly film that can be watched again and again..and still have heart.
Persuasion- this recent BBC version of the book is my favorite of ALL the Jane Austen books-turned-movies I've watched (those being both Colin Firth and Kiera Knightley's Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park) because of the real acting and the trueness to the words. It's worth seeing and, on certain days, I will even cry. (Which is a big accomplishment for a movie: I don't cry at just anything!)
Pretty in Pink- just recently watched this 80s hit. My favorite of Molly Ringwald's (well, I hvaen't seen Breakfast Club yet but I hated SIXTEEN CANDLES) and I <3 the rich guy-poor girl scheme. I know it's unoriginal but this movie makes it fresh again, especially with Ducky along for the journehy.
The Devil Wears Prada- let me remind you, I am not an easy cryer. And yet, the sheer amazingness of this film forced me to cry when it ended. The imagery is amazing: this film inspired my entire career in fashion. Which is saying something, since the whole point of the film is to show how materialistic and cutthroat the fashion world really is. From the opening scene (playing KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I See" to the ending, with a little smile from Meryl Streep's genius portrayal of Miranda Priestley) this movie shines through and through. A+ if I was giving a review. It's amazing. And the fashion is to die for, unlike some movies (SATC & COAS, you know who you are)
